An award winning 2016

2016 saw success both internationally and domestically for Allan Scott Wines. Check out the accolades.

Air New Zealand Wine Awards

The Air New Zealand Wine Awards is the premier wine competition in New Zealand. Each year, the finest wines from across the country are discovered from almost 1,500 entries.
Award winners were announced in October, with the Scott Base Pinot Noir taking home an ‘Elite Gold’ medal for its elegant and delicate red/black cherry flavours with a hint of smoked meat complexity, which, according to the judges, “were beautifully framed by fine texture”.

Sydney International Wine Competition

The prestigious Sydney International Wine Competition is a foodie-friendly show, only accepting 2,000 entries per year as to ensure its panel of international judges have adequate time to offer wine lovers the best food pairings.
Allan Scott’s Cecilia Vintage 2011 saw sweet success when it was awarded a “Blue Gold” award for its complex, toasty and biscuit notes, which according to one of the judges has “excellent richness and length on the palate”.

New Zealand Wines 2017: Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide

With over 40 books and several literary awards under his belt, New Zealand’s most acclaimed wine writer, Michael Cooper, has just released the 25th edition of his bestselling wine guide that is widely consulted by sommeliers, wine retailers and wine lovers around the globe.
Allan Scott wines have received multiple 4 – 5 star ratings within the guide, including our Generations Chardonnay (4*), Generations Dry Riesling (4*), Generations Riesling (4*), Generations Sauvignon Blanc (4½*), and the Estate Late Harvest Riesling (5*), which according to Cooper is “Intense and oily, with lovely vibrancy, richness and harmony, it’s a drink-now or cellaring proposition.”

Nelmac Garden Marlborough awards
The efforts of gardeners to beautify schools and civic spaces were again celebrated through Nelmac Garden Marlborough this year, with the addition of new categories under the ‘Best Garden Awards’.
Named after the walnut trees that line the entrance to the winery, Allan Scott Family Winemakers on-site restaurant Twelve Trees was crowned with the title of ‘Best Hospitality Frontage’ for its gorgeous garden setting.
The restaurant is headed up by esteemed chef Lawrence Purser whose food philosophy is ‘fresh & local’ and is a favourite with tourists and locals alike thanks to its sumptuous menu and relaxing atmosphere.
